At its core, DTF (or direct-to-film printing) is a process that involves printing designs directly onto a special film, which is then transferred onto various materials using heat and pressure.
Direct-to-film printing, unlike some other methods, can handle both light and dark fabrics with ease, producing crisp, detailed images that stand up to repeated washing and wear.
Step 1: Design creation. The process begins with creating or preparing a digital design using graphic design software.
Step 2: Printing. The design is then printed onto a special transparent PET film using water-based inks. This film is coated to allow the inks to adhere properly.
Step 3: Powder application. While the ink is still wet, a layer of adhesive powder is applied to the printed design. This powder plays a crucial role in bonding the design to the final substrate.
